    Laventille-Morvant Pastoral Area

The youth of our Pastoral Area experienced the pilgrimage as a transformative journey of faith, unity, and community. Over six pilgrimage rounds, our Pastoral Area visited eight sacred sites across Trinidad and Tobago, each one drawing us closer to God and to one another. What began as a simple trip soon became a spiritual awakening, guiding us from being tourists of faith to true pilgrims, and ultimately, missionary disciples ready to live and share God’s love.

Through the pilgrimage, the youth from our Pastoral Area came together in unity, sharing responsibilities, supporting one another, and leading vibrant Youth Masses that featured dramatized Gospels, spoken word, liturgical dance, and choir ministry. This collaboration strengthened our bonds and gave us a sense of shared purpose. Our faith was renewed at every stage, as we reflected on powerful lessons from each sacred site, from the beauty of the Eucharist to the call to prayer and perseverance. We were also connected with the heritage of each sacred site through the history of the churches.

The experience built lasting community among the youth and their families. Friends invited friends, parents and grandparents joined in, and each pilgrimage became a joyful gathering of faith. With every journey, our numbers grew, proof that our witness inspired others. In the end, the pilgrimage shaped our youth into a united, faith-filled community, no longer just pilgrims of hope, but missionary disciples ready to shine God’s light in the world. Knowing that a Jubilee Year comes around once every 25 years, our Pastoral Area thanks God for experiencing such a spiritually filled year.

St. Carlos Acutis Award for Eucharistic Devotion in Youth

These parishes would have fostered in their young people a sincere love for Jesus present in the Eucharist. Through faithful participation in the Holy Mass, Eucharistic adoration, and ongoing formation, they have helped youth encounter Christ at the heart of the Church. In the spirit of Blessed Carlo Acutis, they remind us that the Eucharist truly is our highway to heaven; the source and summit of our faith.

St. Francis of Assisi, Sangre Grande

Youth in our parish are actively encouraged to participate in the Holy Mass to grow in faith, develop leadership, and feel a deeper connection to the parish community. Their involvement includes roles as altar servers, members of our vibrant Hospitality Ministry, musicians in our choirs, and participants in youth-led liturgies, making the Mass engaging and relatable for all. They are also given opportunities to encounter Jesus in the Eucharist through First Friday Vigils, Confirmation classes, and creative paraliturgies led by the 424 Music Ministry, helping them appreciate the beauty and power of Adoration. This devotion inspires them to serve others through outreach activities such as back-to-school drives, Christmas treats for underprivileged children, meals on wheels, visits to the sick and shut-ins, and participation in Corpus Christi processions. Through consistent weekly Adoration, sacramental preparation, and leadership in parish ministries, the youth develop a lasting love for the Eucharist. Their participation in the Jubilee Year Eucharistic Congress, including media support, altar service, and hospitality, was transformative, filling them with joy, faith, and a deeper sense of belonging to the Catholic community — an experience that continues to inspire them to live as missionary disciples.

Youth in our parish are fully integrated into the liturgical life of the Church and actively participate in Holy Mass through roles such as altar servers, lectors, cantors, musicians, ushers, and leaders in youth-led liturgies. Approximately 90% of altar servers and much of our choir and hospitality ministry are youth, and our First and Third Sunday Masses, as well as the 5th Sunday Youth Mass, are often organized and led entirely by young parishioners. Through these opportunities, our youth grow in faith, leadership, and a deeper sense of belonging within the parish community. Eucharistic devotion is fostered through monthly First Friday Vigils, where youth lead praise, worship, and intercessory prayer, and through Confirmation classes that host educational Expositions on Eucharistic Miracles inspired by Blessed Carlo Acutis. This engagement helps youth understand the centrality of the Eucharist and inspires them to serve through parish outreach, volunteer initiatives, and Corpus Christi processions. Their participation in sacramental preparation, ministry leadership, and the Eucharistic Congress with about 30 youth serving as volunteers, communicators, and attendees deepened their love for the Blessed Sacrament. As one youth shared, seeing so many Catholics worshipping Jesus in the Eucharist renewed faith and affirmed that young people are vital members of a living, vibrant Church.
