Tree Reforestation Project

The reforestation project is a collaborative effort of the Franciscan Institute of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, the Benedictine Monastery, and the  Seminary of St John Vianney and Ugandan Martyrs. The goal of the project is to plant trees in the environs of the monastery in commemoration of the 800th Anniversary of the Canticle of  Creatures and the 10th Anniversary of Laudato Si.

800th Anniversary of the Canticle of Creatures Exhibition

As the Franciscan Institute continues to plan and celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the Canticle of Creatures, we are committed to ensuring that the students of our Catholic primary and secondary schools have the opportunity to learn more about St. Francis’ deep love for creation and the Church’s teaching on care for creation.

To support this, we have developed a range of materials for principals and teachers to engage students in meaningful reflections. These reflections may be expressed through various creative formats, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, video, song, poetry, dance, or prayer. Selected student works will be showcased at the 800th Anniversary of the Canticle of Creatures Exhibition on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Further details will be shared at a later date. Please see the downloadable preparation material below.
